Vivian J. Edwards, 90, former Cuttington Professor died August 19 in Providence, R.I. With her late husband, the Rev. Seth C. Edwards, she was a missionary in Liberia for over 30 years. She was professor of English at Cuttington University and later taught English Literature at the University of Liberia; at Hampton University in Virginia and at St. Augustine’s College, Raleigh, NC, where she also had many Liberian Students.
She leaves a son, Seth C. Edwards of Brooklyn, NY, a long-term Trustees of the AEC and President of the Friends of Cuttington University, a daughter, Jeanne Edwards of Warwick, R.I. and a sister, Gwendolyn Heyliager of Brooklyn, NY. A memorial Mass will be said at noon on September 10 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 199 Carroll Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231.
The family asks that donations may be made to the Association of Episcopal Colleges, 815 Second Avenue, New York, NY 10017 for Cuttington University's Seth C. and Vivian J. Edwards Scholarship Fund.
