Profile

History
Begun as a theological college, St. George's College Jerusalem in 1964 became a continuing education center for the Anglican Communion.  Since that time we have welcomed course members from 92 countries and 94 faith traditions.  We are totally owned by the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, but supported by Christians worldwide.  Our Patron is the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Mission
"St.  George's will be a Holy Land centre for formation of faith, presenting the Christian faith through the Anglican tradition in the context of the land, the people, and the traditions from which it arose.”  This means being a Continuing Education Center, an Ecumenical/Interfaith Center, and a Peace and Justice Center.

Courses of Study

The College has its own schedule of two-week courses (listing available at http://www.stgeorgescollegejerusalem.org/) each year on a variety of subjects.  Not only do we follow the footsteps of Jesus in Jerusalem and Galilee, but we also follow Moses from Egypt through the Sinai, and Paul through both Turkey and Greece.  These are all done with the latest in Biblical scholarship.  In addition such courses are offered as interfaith studies, desert spirituality, peace and justice, or Eastern liturgical celebrations.  Then there is the private study for sabbaticals or other reasons.  Many theological colleges give academic credit to their own students for attending St. George's, and the College itself gives continuing education credit.

Campus
The College is ideally located on the grounds of St. George's Cathedral and the Diocesan Offices (31 Salahedeen St.), a five minute walk from the Old City of Jerusalem.  Its grounds are one of the top Bible Gardens of the world.  The building is modem with central heat and air, while all bedrooms have bathrooms en suite.

Student Services and Facilities
All course members live and eat within the College building while in Jerusalem.  Fees for each course include room and board.

Spiritual Life
Adjacent to St. George's Cathedral, course members have available its daily prayer life and services.  Most courses have an assigned Chaplain who travels with them, and there is also a Chapel in the College building for its own services.
