The theme chosen for this Conference, that took place at the Anglican colleges at both Canterbury and York in England, was:
CUAC across the Communion....
Learning through each other’s living.
This conference focused on exploring ways in which students and faculty of Anglican related institutions can communicate and learn something of the different lives which they share as intelligent and committed Christians living in a world-wide Communion relationship. The theme had been chosen to help delegates address some of the tensions and conflicts in current world affairs, and also the strained relationships currently between some different parts of the Anglican Communion.
The style of the Conference was a combination of major addresses by resource persons, and academic papers, workshops, focused discussions led by member faculty of the association.
There was a study of the current state of the Anglican Communion and the role CUAC should be playing in it, led by The Rt. Rev Stephen Sykes, Principal of St. John’s College, Durham (UK) and Chair of the Inter-Anglican Theological and Doctrinal Commission. There was an exploration of what it means to live globally, led Bishop Mano Rumalshah of the Diocese of Peshawar, Pakistan. He shared his perspective not only from the east, but from the work he did for the Communion for five years as Secretary General of the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel. Dr. Sabina Alkire, currently on a Global Equity Initiative at Harvard University, lead a discussion as to how involvement and awareness can be an instrument in Global Reconciliation.
There was an exploration of community service and learning as an aspect of CUAC institution’s curriculum by Dr. Linda Chisholm, President of The International Partnership of Service Learning, and former General Secretary of CUAC.
